You can’t make minimum wage on crochet blankets, people just wouldn’t pay that. I spent 150 hours on this (it’s a gift for my mum) but it would be daft to charge £1800 + materials… I myself would never pay more than £100 for a blanket tbh so that’s why I think crochet is a hobby not a business.

That looks awesome! For $100 of materials and 250hrs, if you pay yourself $15/hr that comes out to almost $4k which is a big part of why I don’t really do large items unless I plan to either keep them or gift them. It’s nearly impossible unfortunately to find people who are willing to pay a fair price for that large and intricate of a handmade piece.

This is exactly why I don't sell my blankets. This is beautiful!!! and worth a couple grand..but people who dont crochet dont understand the time and patience put into something like this.

I made one for my dad. roughly the same breakdown as you AND it cost me $60 to ship from georgia to california 🥴 it would HAVE to be in the thousands. Everyone tells me “they’re so beautiful you should sell them” NO!

I know I commented on one of your videos that you gave me confidence in learning to do this, but I can’t find which video. I mentioned my brother & his wife lost everything in a house fire (that was 8/3). But I want to replace his wolf blanket that he’s had since we were kids. I’m talking, I have pictures as a three year old with it. So it was at least 28 years old. Anyway, I’ve been trying so hard to figure out a pattern for it off of a picture I had, but I can’t figure it out. 🥺
