It’s crazy if you break your leg, your toe, your arm they’ll do a scan. But when it comes to mental health…straight to meds, no scan. This has to change.

Is this from a Neurologist/Neurosurgeon’s expert POV? What would a brain scan possibly offer in terms of cues/clues for possible future psychotic episodes? Can it even detect depression let alone distinguish between subtypes of depression?

Except the evidence says she might not have done it. There is no blood print on the window from her opening the window or the bed frame from it being moved at least 4 times

psychiatrists , certainly here in Europe don’t ever “look” at the brain either …. So is it normal practice in America to brain scan people with mental health issues. I agree with you , why not look at the organ you are treating but is that under a psychiatrists remit ? I’m asking because I am a mental health sufferer and I have never in my life had a brain scan done and yet am prescribed so much meds .

I mean, very few have 5k to get this done which is why 99% never do. We’d all love a picture of our brain otherwise. That said, if it were truly that affective and essential, it would be in every clinic.

Agree, but as others said, only the wealthy can afford this kind of option. Us middle class and lower folk can’t afford this treatment and therefore are left to suffer or worse.
