Bank Mandiri said the action was taken at the request of law enforcement, and the authorities later clarified that it had requested a temporary suspension of transactions because they want to investigate the legality of the donations. The move triggered backlash,including calls to boycott the bank, with people taking drastic measures such as burning or cutting their bank card.
