can someone explain to me why so many DJs use a $3,000 laptop? are you guys like editing and rendering a wedding videography project simultaneously while spinning or are we just spending money to spend it because the guy at best buy said its "the best"? asking as a DJ that just replaced his 10 year old $800 laptop with a new $1,000 laptop.

ok so from a business angle you have over capitalised. it will take you 2-3 years to earn that back on net profit after your tax and expenses. by then some of that gear like laptops need to be replaced.

What your equipment costs doesn’t have an absolute effect on what you should be charging. It has some influence but shouldn’t be the main driver in what you charge.
