@truckingwithcj: UHF radios aren’t just for truck drivers. If you’re travelling country or outback roads, and especially if you’re towing a caravan, please carry one and have it turned onto channel 40. It’s how we let you know about a hazard ahead, how you’ll hear an oversize load coming before you see it, and how we help each other get past safely instead of everyone guessing. If your vehicle doesn’t have one fitted, a handheld does the job just fine. (And yes, it’s legal to use while you’re driving - a CB and two-way radios aren’t included in the mobile phone laws. Proper control of the vehicle still applies, same as always.) Just remember to keep it brief. It’s about communication, not conversation - if you’re travelling in convoy with your mates, jump onto another channel so the road channel stays clear for the things that matter. Thank you to Ford Australia for partnering with me and helping spread this message. It’s about working together out here, not against each other.

Yes absolutely correct as I use it all the time whether in the truck or car and our new drivers are taught the importance of them especially out here in the bush.

Alot do now which is awesome but the " hay bob how much fuel you using" yeah Sue I've got quarter tank left" " oh ok bob well do you want to stop up here in Tambo" " oh we should be right for now sue how many ks til the next town" " oh bob I think it's about 100km but Jerry wants to stop to take the dog to the toilet " " ok Sue, Mary said she would like to stretch her legs" " ok well just stop up here to the left." is a bit painful and clutters the two-way for other users that might have something more important to notify another driver. 🙄🤣 Equally annoying when truckies have a yarn rather than dropping to 39 like they used to. 🙂
