@cosmocalvincrilly: 🔧 How do you identify whether a 3-wire proximity sensor is PNP or NPN? In this video, I’m using a multimeter to identify the output type of a 3-wire proximity sensor. For a typical DC proximity sensor: 🟤 Brown → +24 VDC 🔵 Blue → 0 VDC / Negative ⚫ Black → Output / Signal By measuring the black output wire and observing the voltage when the sensor is activated, we can determine how the sensor switches its output. In this case, the sensor gave me a positive output of approximately +24 VDC when activated, confirming that it is a PNP (sourcing) proximity sensor. A simple multimeter test can be a useful way to identify your sensor before connecting it to a PLC or other control system. ⚙️ Small practical tests like this are the foundation of troubleshooting and understanding industrial automation systems. #IndustrialAutomation #PLC #ProximitySensor #PNP #Instrumentation
