My university prayer room has hijabs and prayer dresses and mats available I feel like this should definitely be provided especially in a big mosque what if there’s visitors coming for the first time and they don’t have one or like you you just forgot to bring one you absolutely would think they have them available

I'm v passionate about mosques being more accessible to women, but in this scenario I think it would have been acceptable to pray without head covering. The imam himself recommended, the mosque didn't prevent it and the Quran and sunnah are very flexible about this in that they encourage one to pray when conditions are not perfect rather than to fret about the conditions and not pray at all. I wouldn't in this scenario put the blame on the mosque

Genuinely sister I don’t agree if you are a Muslim revert choosing not to wear hijab you should bring that with you if you don’t feel comfortable praying without which is also better than not praying at all, I take my prayer mat and hijab everywhere with me

Im gonna be very honest here as a muslim woman who doesn’t wear hijab. Some mosques are maintained by women in the women’s section and those usually have hijabs, long skirts, abayas, etc for prayer. Women from that neighbourhood could also take these kind of clothes and leave them in the mosque as charity. The imam himself or « the mosque » wouldn’t really know what the women’s section need because they don’t go there. Carry a hijab with you in your bag always if you really care about prayer. Otherwise, i don’t see anyone to blame here or any misogyny.

its not common for mosques to provide clothing, as we are expected to be dressed appropriately before going, at most you might find a few hats etc, but does sound like a good idea for emergencies, maybe you can donate a basket of hijabs, and whoever uses it, you will get the rewards

In theory the clothes one prays in is the same as the clothes one goes outside in. I have never heard any Hadith about the prophet (saw) advising people to keep prayer clothes at the masjid. I have only heard Haddith of the prophet (saw) telling people what to wear. With much love fisabili Allah I think this one was on you. But now you have brought it to our attention I do think it’s a very good idea for masjids to keep spare modest clothing and head scarves for visitors and people coming to take their shahada. If I have anything to do with organising my local masjid, I will bring this to their attention inshaAllah 🥰

isn't the women section in mosques open for 5 times prayers daily, some mosques don't have mosques bcs there's only 1 or 2 women attend mosques, minority of women prefer praying at home. I've never seen a mosque denying someone who wants to pray 🥀. well even the imam don't have the Rights to deny entry for god's house which is opened to everyone.

Just few words n I'm sure they will give you another opinion about this matter of going to mosque or pray at home. I don't say u must pray at home or men should pray at mosque as many of us think about it this way. Imam Malik decided once to not go to the mosque and he prayed at his own house for 3 three months. So I think it needs someone like u to give it a deep dig in mind to decide something related to what is right according to exact situation coz this is what the whole thing about.

when i was travelling around SEA, i never needed to carry a hijab because all the masjids in SEA provide hijabs, even the smallest ones off the beaten track! mosques around the world need to take notes!

Some will have and some won't. I once had a friend donate some hajibs to the mosque for mosque use. The mosque staff saw it, misunderstood and donated them to charity 😂

the place where I live women usually donate some clothing so other women can pray. But I believe it is something that the mosque has to provide (clothes appropiate for men and women).

this is neither bad nor good. it was a situation that came about a sequence of events. You alerted the mosque so in sha Allah in the future they changed it. or you yourself could have gotten a few things and left it there afterwards. that would mean that everytime a woman would use it you would get a reward for it. SubnAllah a mosque almost 3 hours away giving you passive hasanats.

Tbh i do think the mosque could have some prepared clothes just in case but at the same time, it wouldnt be possible to provide that for everyone if there were more people who needed it. Its a shame you forgot it but your intention was pure and that also matters ❤️❤️

There is a difference of opinion among the schools of thought with regards to women praying in masjid. Hanafi mosques tend to be more strict with regards to this. Hanbali, salafi, shafi’i and Maliki mosques tend to usually accommodate female worshippers. So maybe check the area your in and try find a mosque that follows one of these schools of thought.
