Nothing ever happens. There are a number of pathways for the PRC to assert sovereignty over Taiwan without war, and going to war or even doing a blockade would alienate the Taiwanese population they hope to govern. America is waning and China has nothing but time, especially when there’s going to be a competitive election in 2028 when a PRC-aligned candidate could get the presidency.
