i agree, but i think that what is often overlooked is that over the course of generations and generations, over hundreds of years, enviroment slowly models genetics. many genetical differences are a product of hundreds of years of specific enviromental pressures/or lack thereof. to continue your example, yes there are real, noticeable and sometimes huge differences in iq between people, but almost every time, they reflect the cultural emphasis/or the lack of emphasis on academics and education and with what view they are seen. civilisations that have a noble view of knowledge, given enough time to establish, will always produce overall smarter individuals, regardless of the individuals enviroment, than say cultures that emphasise conquest, personal gain, material wealth and all manner of short term gains, often times viewing academics as an inferior profession. i dont disagree with your post and i think that is important to realise truthfully what is in our grasp genetically but i also think its important not to let our personal biological limits dictate what can be slowly changed with time, thus dooming future humans because we gave up
