The Welsh Fire Service has unveiled a controversial new method for getting through traffic faster — and it involves considerably more shouting. Crews responding to emergencies are now being encouraged to use powerful loudspeakers to angrily tell motorists to get out of the way. Early trials have reportedly been a roaring success, with crews claiming the new technique has already shaved several minutes off some response times. Rather than relying solely on traditional sirens, firefighters can now broadcast messages such as: “F***KING MOOOVE!” and “OI! WE'VE GOT A FIRE TO GET TO!” One firefighter involved in the trials said the system was particularly effective at traffic lights. “We just shout at them until they move. It’s surprisingly effective.” However, not everyone is impressed. Some motorists have complained about being loudly berated while trying to work out where they are supposed to go.
