Cece was devastated by her mom refusing to give her blessing and Schmidt just said "we'll get her on board". So many men would have relied on Cece to get her own mother on board, but Schmidt didn't do that. Cece didn't even know about these phone calls until this scene. I also adore the scene where Cece says "I'm Cece Schmidt" and starts threatening Schmidt's high school bullies. Schmidt's mom yelling "that's my daughter" is EVERYTHING.
