Well tbh it’s not a cake. It’s a custard pie masquerading as a cake. You do the same thing with cream cheese as you do pumpkins for a pumpkin pie. It is indeed a filling baked in a crust (new York style) and they have them without crust and that’s just a baked custard. Aka… pie. It will always be pie. Don’t let the work cake in the word confuse you. That goes back to its etymology. Look o to food history you’ll be blown away.
