It was built over 130 years ago (around the late 19th/early 20th century) by Nadeson Pillay and fellow Tamil community members who settled in the area. It has been renovated and expanded several times since. The temple features a typical gopuram (tower) over the inner sanctuary and a surrounding pavilion.
