@heatherhirschmd: Menopausal hormone therapy during perimenopause is NOT birth control, and it does not stop you from ovulating. Its job is to help smooth out some of the hormonal volatility happening during this transition and improve symptoms like hot flashes, mood changes, anxiety, and sleep disruption. Progesterone can also be especially helpful for some women as their natural progesterone levels decline. Did you know you can still get pregnant while taking menopausal hormone therapy?!
