hey so this actually isn't racist! black girls are always a minority in ballet classes and in the ballet world in general. I completely understand why you'd want her to do it this way.

Ok I’m not stupid and I completely understand why this would be a thing- to a point. HOWEVER- I just think starting kids off with such a black vs. White mentality instead of just integrating everyone is such a strange thing to do.

An all‑Black ballet class isn’t “racist,” it’s a necessary corrective in a dance world that spent decades telling Black dancers they didn’t belong. Historically, ballet classes have rejected darker skin for “uniformity,” companies literally refused to cast Black ballerinas until the late 20th century; so when you see a space built for Black girls, try and understand that it’s not exclusion (I know that’s hard), it’s restoration, it’s giving them a room where they’re not the token, not the exception, not the one being told to “fix” their hair or “match” the pink tights designed for white skin; if you’ve always had ballet shaped around you, you’ll mistake equity for attack, but this class exists because mainstream ballet never made room for these girls, and creating a space where they can thrive isn’t segregation, it’s survival…it’s confidence…it’s community. Your daughter looks ready to take on the world, well done mama….I wish I can find one around me 🥺😍😍

Why is everyone upset about a ballet class, there are black exclusive universities, awards shows, etc. Let the child dance. Her family- their choice.

Why would we need an “all white” class?! White children are represented everywhere, in every toy they play with and most shows they watch. Mama wanted her baby to feel safe and seen. People literally have problems with everything.
