You don’t see many presenters like them anymore, especially on the BBC. We dont encourage creativity or people who have their own ways of doing things which makes them connect with the audience more. Hiring only people based on if they went to stage school or if they have a degree in TV has stopped any mavericks or people with geniune talent having a chance. I think thats where social media is a good thing, it gives genuinely creative people the opportunity to make a career in what they enjoy doing because they can put themselves out there and the public can decide if they like them or not, rather than some HR person in a suit who isn’t interested in anything creative, deciding if they get a job.
