The city is covered in festive lights, there are Christmas markets everywhere, and you can easily spend a few days just hopping between them with a mug of punch in hand. BEST CHRISTMAS MARKETS 🎄 Rathausplatz - The biggest and most famous Christmas market in Vienna, with the City Hall as its backdrop and an ice skating rink in the park 🏰 Schönbrunn Palace - One of the prettiest settings for a Christmas market, right in front of the palace ✨ Belvedere Palace - Another beautiful palace market and especially pretty after dark 🎁 Spittelberg - A smaller market spread through narrow streets and one of my favorites for a cozier atmosphere ⛪ Stephansplatz - A small market right next to St. Stephen’s Cathedral in the heart of the city 🥨 Karlsplatz - A great one for handmade gifts, arts, and crafts OTHER THINGS TO DO 🌟 Walk around the city center after dark to see the Christmas lights ☕ Stop for coffee and cake at one of Vienna’s traditional coffee houses 🎼 Go to a classical concert for the full Vienna experience ⛸️ Go ice skating at Rathausplatz 🍷 Try punch, mulled wine, and Austrian Christmas treats at the markets 📅 The main Rathausplatz Christmas Market runs from November 13 to December 26, 2026, while some markets open earlier and Schönbrunn continues until January 6, 2027.
