By the way, all 4 sunni Imam’s are connected to Jafar Al Sadiq, who both Sunni’s and shia rever for fiqh, jurisprudence and transmission. Imam Malik and Imam Hanafi were Sadiq’s direct students. Imam Shafi’i was the student of Imam Malik. And Imam Hanbali studied under Imam Shafi’i and Imam Hanafi’s students, although his branch rivaleed Hanafi later. Jafar Al Sadiq is for both Sunni’s and Shia deeply related. Ja'far was the eldest son of Muhammad al-Baqir,bthe fifth Shīʿīte Imam, who was a descendant of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law, and Fatima, Muhammad's daughter. Ja'far's mother, Umm Farwa, was a great-granddaughter of the first Rashidun caliph, Abu Bakr. Rahmatulah alaih on all of them. His school of thought became the Ja’fari school. For Shias, he is the 6th imam. For Sunni’s just one of our Ulama. He lived through both Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphate, during a time were sunni-shia differences were not as much as they exist today. His death divided everyone, especially the shia. The biggest sect of followers became twelvers, following his younger son Musa al Khadim. The smaller sect followed his older som Ismail, who had actually died before him but according to Ismaili’s it is different. Others followed another son. Many other smaller sects and schools of thoughts came. But just wanted to share something interesting and less talked about fact from our islamic history many do not know. No Sunni shia please, this is just a historical fact.
