You’re just wrong. This whole story is wrong. I practiced medicine at both of those hospitals. We get a huge number of homeless patients that refuse to leave and as soon as we would call security, they’d suddenly be unable to walk normally. This is a huge problem there and we’re not a hotel. We would provide them with resources for shelters and other facilities prior to discharge. We need housing for the homeless and we need Medicare for all, but since we don’t have either, this is what we’re forced to do.

They dumped my dad after he hospitalized for 5 days with pneumonia. He was found dropped dead in the dirt. They didn’t try to reach out to me as his emergency contact. He didn’t deserve that. This was Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville

The people who are saying this isn’t a shelter have no empathy at all first off you don’t what the hell is going on so what makes you think she homeless! sec Medicaid is also cut because of some dumb fuck which mean they struggling to have no insurance, you maybe not being living it and you people too who have insurance should be grateful that not you! Out on the streets! So before you Jude a book by its cover I would have little more empathy towards this older women who got throw out the hospital! Laying in the streets and makes me sad because this world needs more empathy or compassion there not enough of it…..that why this world is falling apart…..i wish us as humans would do better instead of judge right away………… like what happen don’t judge a book by its cover…….

This is old…….UMC Trauma entrance and driveway has been reconstructed and no longer has those red curbs. This story was at least 2 years ago. And was dealt with.

you’re completely wrong. if security is escorting her out it means she was made to leave AMA after having MANY instances of not listening to her care team, refusing treatments, and threatening staff. in the USA you cannot be kicked out for lack of insurance if the hospital is open to the public(they revive funding from CMS).

I understand these things look heartless and is immoral but in all actuality they can help her with meds she needs right away or her sudden injuries but they cant keep her in a facility if she isn't she insured or doesn't have money to for staying in a hospital or nursing homes , if they left they're patient outside their own facility it would look 10x worse then leaving them somewhere else ,but they cant keep em. what is the solution if these facilities are funded to help people like her and if it's hospital and medical facilities that are not helping her who is supposed to?

If they’re willing to dump patients onto the streets like this, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually saw people in critical condition or on life support being neglected simply because they can’t afford treatment or their insurance won’t cover it. At what point does making room and cutting costs become more important than keeping people alive?
