#soundsystem #FYF #foryoupag four speaker cabinets, each rated 16 Ω / 700 W, connected together on one amplifier channel, the result depends on how you wired them. If all 4 are connected in parallel This is the common arrangement: Box 1: 16 Ω / 700 W Box 2: 16 Ω / 700 W Box 3: 16 Ω / 700 W Box 4: 16 Ω / 700 W The combined impedance becomes: 𝑅 total 16 4 4 𝛺 And their combined power handling is approximately: 700 × 4 2800 𝑊 So the amplifier channel sees 4 Ω, and the four cabinets share the amplifier's output power roughly equally. For example, if the amplifier produces 2,800 W into 4 Ω, each cabinet would receive about 700 W. Log in to view this content Log in The important part: the amplifier If your amplifier channel is rated: 2,800 W @ 4 Ω → excellent match on paper. 2,000 W @ 4 Ω → about 500 W per box. 1,000 W @ 4 Ω → about 250 W per box. Not rated for 4 Ω → don't connect the four boxes that way, because the amplifier may overheat, current-limit, clip badly, or go into protection. Also, 700 W on the speaker doesn't mean the amplifier must produce exactly 700 W. You generally want some headroom and proper limiter settings. If you connected them in series Four 16 Ω boxes in series would give: 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 64 𝛺 That's a very high load for a typical PA amplifier, so the amplifier would deliver much less power. If you tell me the exact amplifier model and the exact speaker/box model, I can calculate what impedance the amplifier sees, how many watts each box gets, and whether the setup is safe. @mr instructor new backup
