That means real local AI processing, private, fast, and untethered from a data center, at a memory ceiling of up to one hundred sixty gigabytes. The timing could not be sharper. One day after Xiaomi's reveal, Apple unveiled its own answer, a redesigned Mac mini built around its first two nanometer chip, the M6, specifically marketed for on device AI and local large language model performance. Apple's flagship configuration tops out at sixty four gigabytes of unified memory and starts at eight hundred ninety nine dollars, shipping this September. Xiaomi's prototype is engineered for more than double that memory capacity, though Xiaomi has not yet announced pricing or a release date.
