@maxwellthethinker: Franz Kafka did release several books and short stories during his lifetime, but he wanted his unpublished manuscripts to not be released because he was a harsh critic of his own work. #philosophy #literature #BookTok #franzkafka #kafka

Jacob Farmer :

Everything leads back to tuberculosis

mark harman is the best kafka translator

Telephone Pole :

I always avoided the castle because the thought of it just ending with no conclusion (or what could pass as a conclusion in a story written by Kafka) made it unappealing to me. Then I finally read it and I don’t think I could possibly imagine a more perfect book by a more perfect author to just end in such a way. How it just stops without the main character making any progress still stuck in that town without a job still fighting the damn bureaucracy is just perfect.

parsa :

Tuberculosis made me remember something that I forgot a long time ago

LibansThoughts :

this motivated me to give it a read

Eli :

this reminds me alot of Chopin where left instructions that all of his unpublished manuscripts be burned because he held rigorous standards for what he presented to the public, but Julian Fontana still did it due to Chopin's mother and sisters request
