The actress, 47, had been due to undergo a full-body MRI but considered canceling the appointment as she grieved Van Der Beek, who died from colon cancer. She went ahead with the scan after encouragement from her ex-husband Marc Silverstein, who told her it was something James would have wanted her to do.
