@yetigraves: The best Project Managers make the field wonder if they even have a job. Because the superintendent shouldn’t have to call asking where the submittal is, whether the RFI got answered, if the material was released, or what happened with that change. A strong PM is already 3 steps ahead. They’re following up before the field has to ask. They’re chasing decisions, clearing procurement issues, getting answers, and seeing around corners before the next problem creates chaos. And when they’re really good at it, most of that work is almost invisible. The field just keeps working. The superintendent keeps pushing the schedule. Roadblocks seem to disappear before anyone has to make a big deal about them. That’s the job. Not to sit in the trailer and administrate the project to death. It’s to support the people actually building it. The Superintendent’s job is to drive the bus. The Project Manager’s job is to make sure all the lights stay green. 🚌💨
