@history: Charles Brooking joined the U.S. Navy in January 1945 and served aboard PT boats in the Pacific. Assigned to help protect U.S. ships, Brooking recalled fondly the camaraderie he shared with his fellow sailors. He returned to the U.S. as a Gunner’s Mate Second Class and served in the Naval Reserve until 1954. Brooking died this month at the age of 99. This clip is from an interview we were fortunate to do with him last summer as part of our partnership with The National WWII Museum. Thank you for your service, Charlie!
