@goodmoneystewards: It wasn’t one big money move. We made a bunch of smaller changes and kept directing the difference toward our goal. 1️⃣ We figured out where our money was going. We wrote everything down—income, bills, spending and debt—and looked for the leaks. 2️⃣ We cut the spending that wasn’t serving us. Less random shopping, fewer Amazon orders and more intentional spending. 3️⃣ We got serious about groceries + eating out. We were buying groceries AND still eating out while food went to waste. Meal planning and cooking at home helped us keep more of our money. 4️⃣ We temporarily pulled back in other areas. Even Christmas looked different that year. Instead of spending around $1,000, we gave ourselves a $500 budget. The goal was bigger than one season. 5️⃣ We increased our income. We picked up extra work and overtime when we could—and instead of letting the extra income turn into extra spending, we sent it toward the goal. Eventually, we reached $30,000. Your goal doesn’t have to be $30,000. Maybe you’re working toward your first $1,000, an emergency fund, debt payoff or something completely different. But you need to know what’s coming in and where it’s going before you can decide what needs to change. 💚 That’s exactly why I created my Budget & Savings Goal Spreadsheet. It gives you a simple place to create your budget, plan your savings and see where your money is going—without complicated charts or graphs. It also includes a step-by-step Getting Started Guide to walk you through creating your budget. 👉🏾 Get the spreadsheet here: www.goodmoneystewards.org Start with your numbers. Then decide what you want those numbers to do. 💚 Steward it well.
