She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Girl, Interrupted and became a global star through films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Wanted, Salt, Maleficent, Changeling, and A Mighty Heart. She has also worked behind the camera, directing films including Unbroken and First They Killed My Father. But Jolie's influence extends far beyond Hollywood. After witnessing the effects of conflict while filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in Cambodia, she began working with the UN Refugee Agency.
