Im here right now and I don’t know what to feel about it, the people the vibe etc of course Im a turist too but I genuinely don’t wanna be in the same box as the typical Bali turist, its so sad cuz its a beautiful place but something feels wrong

Just a correction, but it’s not Uluwatu, saltwood is actually in bingin but somehow everyone starts calling the bukit Uluwatu 😭 Uluwatu is just one part of the bukit 🥰

just spent 2 weeks in bali and i legit was so scared of being discriminated by both foreigners and locals there… went to many places and ended up as either the only indo or only one or two other indos there, got subpar service by local staffs or even dirty/awkward looks from them… they weren’t lying when indonesian tourists in bali were treated like crap 😭 (i still met quite a few of amazing & friendly locals there but i wont ignore the fact that i still got treated differently than foreigners)

i went to bali for my thesis research, and i was floored to see the amount of white people. I was glad that our guide showed us to the local fish restos

My husband is Indonesian and when we travelled the first time to Europe I asked him what he thought was the craziest thing he saw there. He said it was seeing white people work in restaurants and grocery stores and actually being served by them 😭😭

Tbh just came back from Bali and idk if i was going to the foreigner only spots or it was just the off season for local tourists but my group were always the only indonesian people there 🫣

I've been thinking the same thing too 😭 It’s such a beautiful place, but seeing it become increasingly gentrified by foreigners and feeling like a minority in your own country is so weird. I’ve been holding myself back from visiting Bali because it honestly hurts too much to witness
