Except, he doesn't understand Ontario was named after Lake Ontario, not the other way around. 😂 The lake’s name comes from Indigenous Iroquoian names, Karnadario/Onitariio, “beautiful lake” or “sparkling water.” European maps were already using forms of “Lac Ontario” by the 17th century, and when the province was created in 1867, it took on the lake’s name.
