The consequences of currently being nonverbal, having cognitive delays, and needing support with socialization—in real time. She needed someone else to use their voice and understanding to explain to her peer what had just happened, including acknowledging it and apologizing. I’m happy to be right here in the middle of it to support as needed. 🙌🏾💪🏾 Truth be told, ALL children need support as needed. It’s different support for different children. 👌🏾 At the park today, a typically developing child hit my daughter, and that little girl’s mother was right there to offer support. She did pretty much what I did. Another child was having difficulty sharing her balls, and that child’s dad also supported his kiddo and supervised accordingly.
