Ayinla Ọmọwúrà’s Story (English) Ayinla Ọmọwúrà was a famous Nigerian Apala musician from Abeokuta, Ogun State. He was born in 1933 and became one of the greatest Apala singers in Nigeria. His songs were known for their deep Yoruba proverbs, stories, humor, and praise-singing. He sang about everyday life, culture, and the importance of good character. Ayinla was very popular in the 1960s and early 1970s. He had many loyal fans and released several hit songs. His unique voice and energetic performances made him a legend in Yoruba music. Sadly, his life ended tragically. On May 6, 1980, after celebrating a victory in a court case, Ayinla got into an argument with his manager, Bayewu. During the fight, Bayewu struck Ayinla on the head with a bottle, causing a fatal injury. Ayinla died that same day at the age of 47. Even though he died many years ago, Ayinla Ọmọwúrà’s music is still loved today.
