The Prophet (ﷺ) was already married to married Umaima bint Sharahil (Al Jauniyya), and when she was brought to him, he stretched his hand towards her in an effort to calm her down (Search Sahih Bukhari 5256). It seemed that she disliked that, whereupon the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered Abu Usaid to prepare her and to provide her with two white linen dresses. The point of the Hadith is that a woman has her right to not be forced into a marriage or a relationship against of her will. Prophets receive revelations from God even during their sleep in the form of true dreams (etc. Abraham and the order of slaughtering his son). Because his heart never slept, his mind remained perfectly clear, ensuring that any dream or revelation received during the night was perfectly preserved and protected from any whispering of Satan. There is a striking parallel between the prophet’s Hadith and the Old Testament (Song of Solomon 5:2 - “I sleep, but my heart is awake.”) Jewish tradition treats it as the relationship between God and Israel, meaning that even when Israel is spiritually "asleep" or in exile, their deeper heart remains loyal and awake to God. The Prophet Muhammad compared the eyes to a "leather strap" that ties a water-skin shut. When a person is awake, their consciousness acts as a seal or control over their body, preventing the accidental release of wind or impurities. When a person falls asleep, that conscious control relaxes. They may pass wind without realizing it, which breaks their state of ritual purity. The hadith directs anyone who falls asleep to renew their ablution before praying. Regarding Mariya the Coptic, The Prophet ﷺ knew the accusation was a lie. He gave a shocking, absolute order to Ali to catch the suspect off guard. This forced an immediate physical inspection, which proved the man was a eunuch. It provided instant, empirical proof that crushed the public rumors, protecting a vulnerable, falsely accused woman. This is similar to when Solomon ordered the cutting of a baby in half when 2 women were fighting over the baby to find the actual mother. (1/2)
