I freaked out when I had to be inspected by the vet to see if they needed to do a rabies test on my dog after he was put down (he had cluster seizures and we couldn’t pull him out of it but he nipped me in the way to the vet but didn’t break skin) my husband didn’t understand why I cared until I told him how they do that 😭

For anyone curious the only way to test for rabies is to test the brain. Obviously the brain must be removed to be tested I’m sure you can fill in the rest

Honestly they should show it to owners prior to getting a pet to see what happens when they don’t vaccinate. Also depends on the vet on how messy it gets, but it’s definitely mind altering for sure 😬

we had to put my four sweet dog down because it was aggressively biting we had involved the Vet trainers everybody, and it went after my eight month old and the only way we could do. It is through a rabies test and it was horrifying. It was awful. I wish I didn't have to know what happened, but unfortunately, they had to discuss it with me.

When we do rabies tests, my coworkers send me to the front of the clinic and tell me they’ll come get me when they’re done 😭 (I’m severely emotional)

can someone give me eny advice i was bitten by a cat it was like the cat same to me and let me pet her for 10 minutes then it randomly bit me and the cat was also drooling but not like a lot just like a normal amount when a cat enjoys the petting

On the first day of my second (I think) practice period as a very tech and on the first patient I met, the owner got bitten in the face by her dog 🥰 tho it was 110% owners fault... Sedated aggressive dog who wasn't fully asleep, and she said "he gets calm with my voice" and put her face in front of the mouth....

My mom broke the news to me when I was like 14 about what happens and now as a 25 yo with 4 pets they all are rabies vaccinated, and remain up to date on them. That will not happen on my watch.

Thank GOD my parish requires the rabies vaccine. I started as a kennel tech and worked my way up to assistant. It took a whole six months working there to get informed of the process. I am DREADING the day I have to do that
