This is just my opinion but I feel like even the boy who lost the match could still think: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I don’t know the exact goals because it was just a hypothetical situation but playing sports is not at all easy, it requires hard work, discipline, daily training and good sportsmanship ,the fact that he was able to play an entire match with these factors in mind shows that God was with him. God gave him the strength to be able to train, to show up and want to do well in this sport. Also it’s unrealistic for even the best of the best to win every game. So even when he lost he still learned a lot, which he could apply to the next game. Even scripture says God uses hardship or difficulties in our life to teach us lessons.
