Autism is a journey none of us expect and is something that caught our family completely off guard. After the shock of diagnosis, we decided to learn and to become his voice and advocates. So many Doctors and therapists consults with lots of information both good and grim. Regressions where we watched his light dim. Fear we would never hear his voice again, worry about what his future looks like, and wondering what he is capable of achieving. Hope is what fuels us to ask more questions and follow his struggles rather than the diagnosis. Our mantra of IBIB, I believe in Brooks, to have faith in him that he is a fighter and we will find answers. This has never been about “fixing” him, but reducing the symptoms that restricted him from being in control of his own body. Three years in this journey, and we are armed with years of test results, a vastly improved gut health, removal of comorbidities like mold and candida from his body and seeing progress from our boy. There is more to do, especially when it comes to tackling his nervous system, which is still his biggest stressor. All the years of progress on his gut has set him up to see the strong results from his 1st stem cell therapy. These last 2.5 months post-treatment has us firmly believing this is part of the future of autism treatment. It’s been a gradual growth so far, but to a parent of an autistic child where little wins can mean big differences, what we are seeing is substantially improving his life. The best effect has been watching the joy his breakthroughs have brought him when he is heard and understood. Seeing the personality of our mischievous, charming, 2nd-born shine brighter with each passing day. Hope is a scary thing in this world of uncertainty and risking it’s been all for nothing, but so is not trying. For us, we say I believe in Brooks and he’s showing us that’s a gamble worth taking.#autism #stemcell @North Florida Stem Cells
