So my ex wants to be friends but still wants space and time as she’s filled with all these different emotions and she doesn’t know how to feel or what to think. I’m going to respect her by giving that space but as we’re gonna be friends and let’s say we hangout once and a while and talk once and a while, do you think we’re gonna build that trust and safety by doing that or do you think it’ll make things worse or maybe push her further away into wanting to be with me and only see me as a friend. Or do you think I should just let her be and when she’s ready to speak she’ll speak ? I don’t want to push her away even more so I’m not chasing but what if she’s waiting for me to engage or wants me to make plans.

Hi CJ. I know you talk about how space is the most important thing to give after separation/breakups. In my case it’s been 7 weeks of NC. In our last conversation I apologised for the ways that I failed. She said moving on will be hard because she believes I will change in the ways I need to. My question is, is a genuine, sincere apology something that would push her away? How would you have felt if your Husband did something like that? I don’t want to send it to start a conversation but believe she deserves to be validated entirely. Everyone is 50/50 on apologies so I’m torn
