The first year can be tough but TRUST ME it gets so much better, especially once you start getting into your major focused classes! Greek is a big deal for freshmen but that mindset dies down HEAVILY after that. I was in a sorority but i started making more friends from work. I worked at the Sanderson center and i worked out at Starkville athletics and made friends there too.

The bike class you say is spin class and it’s so much fun! You should give it a try if you search up the groups that go on in the Sanderson they will tell you times and all kinds of classes they hold my fav is by far spin class!

Get an on campus job. I know some students who worked with athletics and they would help with tickets for things like football games and such. They got to meet a lot of people.

The first month is definitely challenging. I worked at the Sanderson because they worked with my busy class schedule. Talk to random people in your classes because those can be the people you stick with for the next four years. Some of my best friends were people I randomly talked to in class. Join clubs and organizations even if you just show up to the first meeting and see who you meet. Between classes pick a new area of campus to explore. My favorite days were when I had a two hour break, I would walk to a new area on campus. It helped me find comfort areas to hangout, study, or just relax outside of my dorm/ apartment. I promise you will find your people and have a better experience than you think!!

Trust when I say this you’ll grow so much as a person throughout your entire time there. And also be lucky you are bored because a year or so in you’ll wish you had those easy classes. And I get it’s probably out of your comfort zone but don’t hesitate to put yourself out there, try new things, nothing is set in stone and yes it might take time to find the genuine friend connection but just be open to trying new things meeting people going to things and also take care of yourself/mental health also the counseling service on campus is slay if Lindsey is still there 10/10 recommend and if you can swing paying for it I’d go to midtown Pilates or just walking around campus/the district/downtown over the Sanderson any day I hated going to the Sanderson also planet fitness was ok before I left so possibly there sorry this is a book lol

The sanderson has so many different workout classes if you check out the urec website! They are all so fun & a great way to meet people. I also had an on campus job while I was there and met a ton of people through that as well. Get involved in your major (I met so many friends just by sitting by people in class) & there are so many clubs you can get involved with!!

hey sis.. you’ll get there. I promise. I was the ONLY girl on my hall that did NOT rush freshman year at Ole Miss. Get out whether it is sitting outside, the union, the gym (like you said), go to dinner alone, join groups.. I am a SOCIAL butterfly and can vividly remember calling my mama at 2a crying in the bathroom because I had no friends. Give it time.. When football season starts, you’ll make more friends for sure. Everyone else is just getting their feet wet too. #fyp following you to watch your growth sister girl and support this journey!! YOU GOT THIS SISTER GIRL!!!

I’m also at state I’m a sophomore if u need another friend lemme know girl, I also didn’t rush but the people here are extremely nice by the end of the semester I guarantee you will have at least 15+ friends 💅🏻
