@gamesdotgg: @XBOX has officially announced a new Disc to Digital feature at Gamescom and the timing relative to Sony could not be more pointed. Starting August 31 for Xbox Insiders, players can insert a supported disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X, launch the game, and claim a permanent digital entitlement tied to that disc. The physical disc continues to work exactly as it always has and crucially, if you sell or loan the disc to a friend, the digital entitlement moves with it. Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming support are also unlocked where available. Thousands of titles will be supported at launch, covering most Xbox One and Xbox Series X disc-based games, with more being added over time. CEO Asha Sharma posted on X: "Your physical game library is more than a collection of discs. It holds years of memories and stories worth preserving. Starting next week, XBOX Insiders can unlock a digital entitlement for supported physical games. We’ll start with thousands of titles and add more as we can."
