@dr.vivianasamoah: Removing the gallbladder can solve one problem — but sometimes it creates a digestive pattern that gets mislabeled for months. 👩🏾‍⚕️ In my practice, when someone has persistent loose stools after gallbladder removal, I don’t automatically assume it’s “IBS” or that they simply need more time to adjust. One thing I think about is what changed physiologically after surgery — especially how bile is moving through the GI tract. 🔬 When excess bile acids reach the colon, they can increase fluid secretion and motility, leading to urgency and watery stools. That distinction matters because bile acid diarrhea is a mechanism, not just a symptom. Once we understand the mechanism, treatment can be much more targeted instead of relying on endless food restriction. Persistent symptoms can still have other causes, so the broader picture matters too. 💡 This is why I’m a big believer in asking why the diarrhea is happening before simply telling someone to avoid fat indefinitely. Have you noticed a change in your digestion since having your gallbladder removed? 👇🏾 #fyp #trending #GutHealth #IntegrativeGI #gastroenterology
