Prepping Tacos for a play date whilst I talk about something Zac and I are navigating at the moment 👀 🌮 We are trying to find the balance of wanting to both be really hands on, present parents with trying to capitalise on our really exciting and busy work opportunities. Both of us want everything but are having to learn to flex to let the other person have their time to work and focus too. Obviously before having a baby we could both be selfish with our time whereas now there are so many more cogs to put in place - even with the amazing support network we have (a total privelege in itself). We also never want Margot to feel like she doesn’t take priority (she does) but part of her getting 100% from us when we’re with her means having some time do head down focus so we’re not working in front of her or doing to many things at the same time badly. I will d*e on the hill that I don’t find parenting a chore or particularly tough (larger scale) BUT the juggle is physically and emotionally draining as you try and navigate through it with a partner (especially if you also want to nurture your relationship with each other at the same time). I think it’s just a phase we’re in and we’re already finding a pattern that works much better for us - but when both figures have fragile egos and don’t like feeling like their work is unimportant or disrespected by the other, we initially found talking about it quite hard and prone to bickering… it’s just a learning curve and I want to be transparent as we work our way through it!
