@asiaone: Tan Boon May provided potential solutions, such as relief manpower support, incentives for cross-training and additional assistance for smaller companies — particularly those with a head count of less than 15. https://asia1.news/469Kr0p #sgnews #singapore #employment #parents
Seems quite dishonest of her to say that she benefits more than the viewers, given that she is not an employee how will she benefit from the new leave package?

Please lah. In Sweden, parental leave is not limited to 6 months; instead, parents are entitled to a total of 480 days (approximately 16 months) of paid child care leave per child, which they can share. They survived, why can’t we

all these people who are employees should understand her stand as an employer, this new policy will indeed affect employees outlook in comparison to others who don't need as many childcare leave. She is speaking as an employer, but also reflects how as an employee we may lose out.

If you can’t afford to give your employees the time off that they are entitled to or that they deserve, then you can’t afford a business. easy

the way she say... employer cannot adapt Singapore new way of child care leave... it is show that all company is not child friendly basically they don't support you when you are having baby cause they know they will lose money. but you all employer want to make business in Singapore and earn more income... if not happy then make business in other country instead

Yes, the issue resulting in the ‘other side of the equation’ is that most employees have been stretched beyond appropriate to wear multiple hats for the sake of ‘productivity’ and ‘efficiency’. This is an ingrained culture. We are hypercapitalistic and focus on squeezing out the last bit of output per employee. When the organisation is THAT lean, there’re bound to be problems if we want to grant more parental leave. To balance the other side of the equation, we need to shift towards a more balanced work-life split - where employers don’t have to SCRAMBLE when employees take their ENTITLED leave - meaning the mindset must change. Hiring practices should reflect that - employers need to allow for some buffer, even if it means eating into their profits; if unable to do so, then scale down, it means you’re pushing your employees beyond reasonable expectations.
