@teresondupuy: You may still be grieving someone you deeply loved. Don’t rush it. Hold space for the grief. Cry when you need to. Love them if that is still what is true in your heart. If they were avoidantly attached, it may help to understand that they were often operating from fear, shame, and limited emotional capacity—not necessarily from a lack of feeling. You can have compassion for that. But compassion for them cannot come at the expense of compassion for yourself. You are allowed to grieve the love. You are allowed to grieve the future you imagined. You are allowed to grieve the version of them you hoped they would become. And if you need a truth that helps you move forward, let it be this: Someone can love you and still not have the capacity to keep the relationship healthy. That does not make the love meaningless. It means love alone was not enough. And now your work is to let this experience evolve you. To become more whole. More discerning. More rooted in yourself.
