As someone pointed out there are ball catches on the tops of the doors that hit these strike plates. The catches are adjusted by spinning them to raise or lower. You’ve got a lot of weight on the doors probably pulling them down enough to throw everything off.

The metal plate on the top door frame between the 2 doors is worn down from the doors rubbing on it and it wont latch anymore. Probably from all those dang shoes! 🤦♂️It’ll probably still close if you remove the shoes or get some STRONG magnets and place them on both sides of each door near the knobs.

Ok I cannot believe I am attempting to provide advice because I really don’t know shit. But…this problem clearly bothers you so if this helps that’s great. I remember a door doing this and what it took was tightening loose screws on the door hinge. If it looks like this maybe they are not fully tight. Maybe. 🤷🏽

There may be stops at the tops and bottom of the door. The shoe hangers might be interfering with them.
