RN here - you can trim the dressing that has peeled off! Tape would likely aggravate the skin as well as it pulling - think of it like steri strips, you can trim them as they loosen until it comes off on its own! It looks SO good!!

Am I the only one that thought the strip looked like a piece of a quesadilla?

From a former burn unit tech, this looks very good! Very healthy. You can trim the dressing so it doesnt catch and pull on anything!

It’s looking fantastic! Leave it alone! Lol Generally they wouldn’t want you to tape it down, it’ll fall off when it’s meant to. I mean, if you have to wrap it temporarily because you’re afraid of it pulling off prematurely while you do a task, no harm in that, just unwrap as soon as you can.

It looks great! I’m a med surg nurse and we usually have patients like you and the dr would advise them (or do it themselves) and just trim off the part that’s already loose on your skin, we usually get down as close as possible without getting the part that’s still stuck to your skin. You can contact your dr to check with them to make sure it’s ok or you could get regan (I don’t think I spelled there name right so I apologize) to trim down as close to it as they can or at lease get the biggest piece off that’s bothering you. I also seen the comment about the pillow helps with the pain, if you have a ace bandage you can also wrap it just enough where you feel comfortable but I wouldn’t keep it wrapped the whole time

Can I just say as a healthcare professional it’s awesome that so many RN’s and other professionals can reassure and give helpful advice. This is what social media is for. Nicely done guys 👏🥰

Also crackle nail polish, what a freaking throwback. Also I don’t think this needed a trigger warning

My husband had the same thing and the nurse would trim back the bandage so it wouldn’t catch on anything. It looks amazing though ❤️

It’s so crazy how the skin heals!! I had a full thickness skin graft on my hand from a brown recluse spider bite. I’m amazed by what our bodies can do!

As a EMT that looks great. I would trim the lose stuff so it’s not catching cause that hurts.

Tape some dry gauze over it and let it be. If you start sweating call someone to ask what you can do

Fun fact, the reason it looks like burlap is because when the piece of skin is taken from the donor, they cut a bunch of holes in it to make it more of a stretchy “fabric” in order to span across a larger area!

If you can get some sterile scissors I would trim it down. I have patients with skin grafts and donor sites all the time and it looks great.
