YUPPP I told my new 8th graders day 1 that they’ll be hand writing final essays this year and they were FLABBERGASTED. I basically told them “I don’t care how you feel about it, I have a little bit of a say in your future and I’ll be damned if yall can’t think critically”. We’re reading & writing (by hand) about the classics pretty much every day this year. I will NOT let those kids leave my class thinking the curtains are just blue

I didn't have a problem when my English teacher was like that in grade 10. I just hated the fact that she sees us very very very uneducated. She'd say a word that we are "supposed" to not understand even though some of us do, and then "joked" that we don't know it cause we don't try to learn. (And if we try to tell her we know, she'd suddenly challenge us like chill we just wanted to tell you we know what the word means) I hate thefact that she would also start a lesson and then suddenly stop and would say "to anyone who can't keep up, you are free to leave this classroom, you don't even try." like what?? what's the logic, isn't that why she's our teacher, to teach us everything we need to know and try to make sure the students, we, can keep up?💔 idk what to call her but just because she graduated in a prestigious university doesn't mean she gets to mock us public students.

What’s so weird was how fast it changed. I’m younger Gen Z and I had to do rough drafts and drafts and write essays by hand then type it on the computer….. this was literally just 5 years ago also so I don’t understand the drastic shift

Love this but PLEASSEE give interesting topics or some sort of topic where they can pick what to write. I promise if the student is interested in what they are writing, it’ll be 100000% better in every aspect
