Absolutely makes sense. You paid with a credit, you get your credit back. YOU cancelled the first set of flights so you received credit and that’s how you funded these tickets. Now you’re expecting a cash refund? 🤣🤣🤣

Unfortunately it is impossible to get them to honor their word. Usually when they cancel a flight and have nothing else the same day I am able to have them book on another airline and yes they pay for it. I’ve had it happen several times and thankful for it. However if you don’t ask for it they won’t do it. My mom ended up buying a whole new ticket instead of telling them to rebook her on another airline and she has yet to see the travel credit

If they cancel your flight, regardless of type of ticket, the DOT requires them to offer a full cash refund. Fill out a DOT complaint.. Not a complaint with AA. I had a similar situation on Delta where my connection (out of the country) was cancelled and I had to buy a new ticket on my own. Delta tried to pull the e-credit BS. I filled out a DOT complaint and they are now refunding my entire ticket.
