this is why I get frustrated when people say that the president and others involved with Epstein are pedophiles. they aren't attracted to children, they're attracted to vulnerability. it seems like semantics, but it's an important distinction.

Oprah did an episode about this and I’ll never forget the guy who graped his stepdaughter because he lost his job and his wife mocked him for it. He said he just wanted to feel powerful and hurt his wife.

It's actually really sickening to think about, but the majority of child SA is not perpetrated by pdf files, which makes it all the more upsetting cause it could really be anyone.

Yes this is so important to discuss and is very relevant about SA in general. Many don’t understand that someone can Sa you and not be attracted to you. Many actually do it out of anger and control. But I think a lot of people get upset when you say this because it forces them to acknowledge that anyone could Sa you and your children. It doesn’t have to be a creepy stranger.

So, if I understand, there are 2 main profiles of people who abuse kids. 1 would be people who are attracted to kids and 2 those who are attracted to control and find kids most controllable. And the second group are harder to spot because they just look like a generically controlling person?

This!! I struggled with what a parent did for years conceptualizing what happened because it wasn’t ever about sexual attraction per se. Just the control and lack of boundaries to do what he wanted whenever he wanted.

As a victim of extensive CSA for 10 years by a close relative, control and dominance are definitely major themes!! I remember so much how he wanted to “correct” me and used abuse to “teach me a lesson” and show me that he was stronger than me. As I grew it developed into a strong desire to humiliate me for his own pleasure.
