@itsreallycarly: HELPPPPPP! I want to clean our kitchen next because we use it so many times a day and it just feels like chaos all the time?!???? I feel like our kitchen is just not set up very well so I NEED your clever ideas on how to get it working the best it can be. It just feels very hodgepodged and thrown in there and I want to function a lot better, but you know sometimes it’s hard to see the right thing to do or the right way to organize if you’re in the mess all the time. I need your fresh eyes to help me figure out the best way to make our kitchen run smoother!!!!! Okay, the things I need the most help with: * where to put snacks * pots and pans organization * how to organize the baking stuff Any ideas?!?!? 😅 #momlife #declutter #typea

We, too, have a ‘pantry’ like yours and I installed these in there! I want to add them for my pots and leftover containers

You’re going to have to get rid of stuff. As I went through my pans, bakeware, utensils, dishes, I asked myself how many of each do I actually use at one time. I had eight baking pans but never use more than two so I kept three. Did the same for everything else and it freed up so much space, physically and mentally.

I use Lazy Susans - then you can rotate to get the stuff in the back!

Not the problem you’re asking about, but when you graduate to cleaning the top of the cabinet (the part way over your head), line the tops with wax paper when you’re done. It keeps the dust from collecting directly onto the wood surface, making it faster and easier to clean. You can do the same with the top of the fridge.

Probably need to minimize some of the things you have. Including snacks. When it comes to pots and pans mixing bowls maybe replace with sets are made to stack neatly together. Or else you need to start taking the time to neatly stack everything when you put it away.

You could get some of the those slide out cupboard inserts so you can get everything out without having to contort into the cupboard. and also you could pre-pack some of the snacks out and put the rest of them into a container/ box on top of the wall cabinets.

Swap the pantry cabinet with all the appliances so you can organize your food in the cabinets

Truly if I was you I would start by taking everything out and going through things you need/things you can part with and create systems and “areas” for specific things. And go through all of your food to separate expired foods from non expired foods. As some other comments have said I truly think the pull outs would help in your pantry to help you be able to access the back of your pantry space and see everything but if you aren’t wanting to go through the process to add that I suggest doing clear bins for organizing food to make it easier to see what you have. And for your snack area I would get clear containers to keep everything in as well so you can actually see what you have. I know target and dollar tree as well as Walmart has a lot of clear bin choices. For your pots and pans I suggest doing some lid holders and pan holders I have some from target! I also suggest putting bigger items like your instant pot etc on top of the fridge to free up space inside the cabinets as well! You have a beautiful kitchen girl!!

idk if you have the room but a little old timey pie hutch or cabinet could be your pantry as a stand alone

Id keep 2 cans of tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and paste etc in the pantry and store the rest in a pretty container in another area. Maybe up top? Also agree with everyone to go through everything and get rid of pans, baking sheets etc that you don’t love / never use.

Whoever made this kitchen made my kitchen. Same wood color and all. Ive done some organizing but still difficult because they’re so deep. If I had the money I’d add those pull out shelves

I saw a video about how Japanese people (who live in small homes) have made excellent use of space. You can look it up, but the idea is that you “don’t have to make a decision” when you open a cabinet or drawer because the decision has been made for you. I think the random cabinet with the pots and bags would be a good place to try this. The Japanese use vertical dividers to store cutting boards & baking sheets/muffin tins. That means everything has a place and is super accessible each time. There are other tricks like hanging knives and utensils vertically on the wall. For the bags, we have a hook system so they hang on the inside of the door.

I LIVE by using those wire locker inserts that create a second shelf. Use them for the cans or any deep pantry spaces

I put my crock pot and mixer and fryer in my pantry on the bottom shelves and on the mid level shelves I put my dishes . Medical stuff on the top shelf. Moved pantry stuff to top cabinets. With one cabinet for cups. Heavy cans and bulk buy food in the bottom cabinets. And pots and pans in bottom cabinets

for the cans you can get the organizers that move stuff forward when one comes out so you can use the depth!

I had to declutter most of my kitchen stuff down to bare minimum because the chaos was causing too much noise in my brain. small appliances live on a microwave stand in the dining room, heavier duty pots live in the pantry on the top shelf
