Heavy on it not being racist to describe someone but their race. Like if it’s not in a mean way it’s just a description. In fact I think it’s weirder to describe someone by their race/ethnicity attributed features instead of just saying their race/ethnicity, like why are you so scared to say it.

Describing a person by their race is racist (in a more micro aggressive way), simply because we don’t apply this logic to white people. Because white is seen as the “default” people feel no need when describing a white person to say first, that they are white, people simply assume they are. It’s art of a bigger systemic issue, hope that answers your question.

i agree with all besides the last one. i dont think its racist to describe someone by their race, but it can come off that way when there are other ways to distinguish them. if you are looking at two girls and one is blond and white and one has dark hair and is hispanic, you can easily point out the difference by hair color. when race is the first thing and only thing someone uses to distinguish people, it comes off a little racist. its not that it can never be used to distinguish people, its just the way its done

Sometimes with the describing people by their looks things is bc white people can describe other white people by their hair color and their clothes and their features without saying that they’re white but as soon as they see someone that’s not white, first thing they do is say their race or skin color, which isn’t “racist,” but it’s kind of seems like they’re implying that white is like the default. If the people you talk to aren’t offended by that then that’s fine but like sometimes it’s low key valid to question people who’s first impression of anyone not white is the fact that they’re not white yk. There just has to be context, and even though people aren’t trying to be racist or insensitive, it can come across that way

My hot take: comparing a poc to another poc is not racist. It’s only racist if there’s no similarity at all and u only compare them bc of skin color alone 😭but obviously ima say a black person resembles another black person bc they share black features, just like how I’d compare an Asian person to another person! I’ll also compare an Asian person to a black person. If two ppl look alike then they simply look alike 😭
