@edge.elite.athletics: So you want to be a college athlete? Start training explosively. At the next level, being strong isn’t enough. You have to be able to produce force FAST. That’s why power and plyometric training should be a major part of your development. Plyometrics train your ability to rapidly absorb force and transition right back into producing it. Think: Jump → land → jump again. Plant → absorb → change direction. Stop → control → accelerate. When programmed correctly, plyometric and power training can help you: • Produce force faster • Jump higher and move more explosively • Improve acceleration and sprint performance • Develop reactive strength • Improve change of direction • Control landings and absorb force better • Transition faster from braking to exploding Because being explosive isn’t just about how much force you can create. It’s about how quickly you can create it, how well you can absorb it, and how fast you can use it again. College sports are faster. Your training needs to prepare you for that speed.
